My new home. It feels like going to the cottage, but you’re also in a first class city. Also we’ve experienced a record breaking summer, and I moved here at the beginning of the season. It’s rained maybe five days in the past four months and everyone’s taking advantage of it.
Although it’s super Canadian of me to discuss the weather, honestly it’s really shaped my experience here because so much of what makes this place great is being outside. Locals fiercely love the outdoors. For example, what qualifies as a bike ride back home is nothing.. my uncle took us on a casual excursion and it ended up being almost 5 hours on our bikes. My bum hurt. I regret nothing.
I’m pretty leisure so my favourite thing to do on a hot Sunday is lay out at Madison Park Beach and then head over to Cactus for Mexican eats and mojitos. If you tell them it’s your first time there, they’ll bring you a free dessert.
The fanciest thing I’ve done here is visit a winery in Woodinville, either Chateau Ste. Michelle or Columbia Winery. We then stumbled over to the Barking Frog where we had the best seasonal seafood I’ve ever put in my face. If you can’t get that fancy and make it all the way out there, just buy a bottle at the grocery store.
Up next on our calendar is a Montana weekend road trip! Yee-Haw!
