Chicago, IL was on the very top of my America Bucket List.
Planned as a long weekend trip with my moms, she told me “who knows when we’ll have this chance again!” She’s an architect as was her dad, she told me Chicago was his favourite city. We did many -MANY- touristy things with no shame, lots of wandering around downtown and Wicker Park, going to Blues Bars and eating some seriously good food.
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House was a major highlight, his attention to detail and everyday practicality comforted my obsessive compulsive brain. Apparently his house in Oak Park is better but I was still majorly impressed. Check out that photo of the carved drain detail into the wooden counter. This place was built in 1910! It looked modern and sleek and sexy.
Can’t wait to go back.
